My Step Dad worked at Triumph in the 60's up until the beginning of the 70's. I don't know which depot he worked at. I believe he was an inspector and he was a welder by trade. He used to drink in the Pilot. We lived in Grangemouth Road until the early 70's when we moved to Scotland.

Tom was a professional footballer for Birmingham City & Barrow in the 50's and later played fullback for the Standard Triumph Rugby Club. Worked at Standard Triumph for a time around the early 70's as a line operative on the 'Saab' engine line. To my recollection his job involved using an air gun to blow the swarf out of the machined cylinder heads.

Ernest ‘Jim’ Russell – The Dud Line-I thought you might like to see some photographs of my late father, Ernest ‘Jim’ Russell, who served his apprenticeship as a fitter at ‘The Standard’ before WWII, and returned to work there after service in the Royal Navy.
William Charles Vincent-Mr W Vincent in New Zealand, has identified that the Chauffeur in the picture below was his grandfather William Charles Vincent. The photos date from 1911.
Deliveries Pt1-A fantastic photo show a team of ladies that were tasked to deliver cars, in the most cases, to the ports for export.
STANDARD SERVICE DIVISION, 1947 Part 1-The Standard Service Department has many functions, including the administration of Service and the supply of Standard and Triumph spares to all parts of the world. In addition, it operates large Repair Departments at both Coventry and London. This article deals with the supply of spare parts from the Main Spares Department at Coventry.

Banner Lane and Massey Ferguson-During WW2 The Standard Motor Company had operated on behalf of the Government a new “shadow” factory making aero engines.
Jack Taylor – Quality Control-Jack Taylor worked for Standard Triumph at Canley as a Quality Control Engineer. He had originally been employed at an Air Ministry inspectorate between 1936 and 1947, becoming involved with the Standard Motor Company because of their contract to build Mosquito aircraft during the war.

Pubs: The Herald-This pub was named after the Triumph Herald motor car, which was first built in 1959 in the Standard factory that stood on the other side of the railway line from the pub.
Wal Horsfall – Sheetmetal Worker-Wal Horsfall started as a sheetmetal worker in the old farm buildings at Canley. After some years he moved to the Press Shop. In 1937 he was made a chargehand in the Bonnet Shop, whilst Joe Cappleman as chargehand on petrol tanks.
Jack Kearton – Jigmaker-Jack Kearton, a jigmaker in 12A Shop, Canley, came to Coventry from South Wales in the 1920s. He found work as a machinist and then worked on testing Dolomites at the old Triumph works for eight years. He did not join Standard Triumph, however, until during the last war.
Thomas Ward – The Elephant in the Room-There was a highly interesting and little-known period during which Triumph was owned by Thos. W. Ward Ltd., the internationally famous steel company. (See Below). Mr S. J. Dyal, a director of Ward’s, who was able to piece together the true account of this interim period when Triumph had its H.Q. not at Priory Street, …
